People often believe these myths because they have heard them from friends, family members, or even celebrities. But just because some information is widespread doesn’t mean it’s true! Food myths are perpetuated by a lack of understanding of nutrition and food science.

One of the worst things you can do for your health is to believe in common food myths. These misconceptions can lead to poor dietary choices and — as a result — all sorts of health problems.

1. Eating fat makes you fat.

This is one of the most pervasive food myths out there. It’s simply not true. In fact, healthy fats are an essential part of a balanced diet and can actually help you lose weight.
