The Secret to a Good Night’s Sleep
Use these techniques to fall asleep in a matter of minutes.
Sleep is important. But I guess I never really thought about it much until I suffered from insomnia. Thankfully, my bout of insomnia was short-lived, and my sleeping pattern got back to normal after a few months. However, that brief experience gave me an insight into just how terrible insomnia can be and how your mind, body, and spirit can suffer from a lack of sleep.
So how much sleep do you need every night? The answer is different for everyone because we each have a unique sleep requirement. However, some estimates say that people need between seven and nine hours of sleep per night to feel well-rested.
Here are 4 ways that a lack of sleep can negatively impact your life:
1. Lack of sleep can lead to health problems: You’re more likely to develop diabetes and heart disease if you don’t get enough sleep. If you aren’t getting enough sleep, your immune system is compromised, putting you at risk of developing life-threatening diseases like cancer. Your risk for dementia also increases when you don’t get enough sleep.
2. Poor sleep can affect your mood and emotions: You’re more likely to develop depression if you don’t get enough sleep. You’re also more likely to be cranky or irritable.
